Vice-President

Peter Dutneall, winner of the 2009 William Dean Award recognising excellence in contributing to the sport of ballooning. Pete was the prime mover in getting the 2009 Nationals up and running in the face of almost insurmountable odds.

Ian Brownlie, after several years as club treasurer, finally takes up a position worthy of a man of his standing.

Secretary

Bob McGowan claims to be a purist, but is in fact a closet vintage aircraft enthusiast. He represents the Victoria/Tasmania region at the Australian Ballooning Federation (ABF) and assists in the production of it's publication, Aeronotes, whenever it's BAV's turn.

Treasurer

Lu Michell volunteered for the role of banker not realising that it's impossible to ever achieve the benchmark set by BAV for the performance bonus.

David Wills' ballooning is somewhat restricted by extended overseas trips in his other job as a supervising aircraft ground engineer.

A new face, Francois Steyn brings a South African flavour to the committee this year.

Public Officer

Barry Leak is responsible for ensuring BAV satisfies the requirements of the Corporations Act. Because the BAV hut is on the Benalla airfield, Barry also represents the club's interests at meetings of all the airfield users with the Benalla council .

Safety and Technical Officer

Glenda Dennler's background in law has been an invaluable resource for the club.

Ronald Kent has a real talent for innovative trailer design. Proud owner of two balloons, the smallest being a 42 which he can rig, fly and retrieve without crew.

Webmaster

Not strictly an Office Bearer, Owen Beckwith retired from commercial aviation in 1997 and gained his balloon pilots certificate shortly after. No longer flies, but prefers to bask in the reflected glory that comes from mixing with those who do.
