The Balloon Association of Victoria (BAV) is a non-profit, member based organisation dedicated to the development of sport ballooning in Victoria. Being amateurs, members do not take fare paying passengers. Founded in 1985, BAV has grown to be one of the most active clubs in the country. Membership is open to any interested persons, male or female. The club promotes sport ballooning through attending high profile airshows and works closely with local governments and regional groups in organising balloon displays at regional events. Members regularly travel to interstate functions throughout the year as well as internationally, competing at the World Championships in Hofkirchen, Austria in 2008 and assisting at the Pre-Worlds in Hungary 2009. Balloons over Waikato, in New Zealand, has become another popular destination. BAV aims to foster a close and amiable environment with opportunities for new members to become crew and, if they so desire, pilots or balloon owners. For further information concerning BAV activities come along to one of our monthly meetings held on the second Thursday of the month, except usually during January, at the Parkview Hotel, corner of St Georges Road and Scotchmer Street, North Fitzroy. The meeting starts at 7pm in the upstairs Function Room, but get there around 6pm for dinner and drinks. Order downstairs and eat upstairs. Make yourself known, and enjoy a welcoming atmosphere. |
