The Balloon Association of Victoria (BAV) is a non-profit, member based organisation dedicated to the development of sport ballooning in Victoria. Sport ballooning is conducted by enthusiasts who do not take fare paying passenger flights.

BAV was founded in 1985 with the aim of being a focal point for the development of the sport in Victoria. Since that time BAV has grown to be the most progressive ballooning group in Australia and one of the most active clubs in the country.

Membership of BAV is open to any interested persons and the club has a varied membership of both pilots and crews as well as enthusiasts and afficondaos. BAV is committed to the development of sport ballooning through attending high profile aviation meets such as airshows, large regional events, and public information services such as this website in order to keep ballooning foremost in the minds of the general public.

BAV also works closely with local governments and regional groups in organising regional ballooning displays that allow these communities to build a regional event, which in turns helps to promote their district. In 2007, BAV has committed to a number of such regional events.

As well as Victorian events, BAV members travel to interstate events and to international events throughout the year with members attending the World Championships in France in 2002, the Pacific Cup in Japan in 2003 and 2005 and the recent world Championships in Motegi, Japan in November 2006.

BAV attempts to ensure that all members enjoy their ballooning and BAV works hard to foster a close and amiable environment with opportunities for new members to become crew and even, if they so desire, to become pilots or balloon owners.
